‘The Royal Canal’ from ‘The Wife’ album. Download this song for free right here, and pick up the album at the same time if you like.
I wrote this at Martina’s place in Turgi, Switzerland after a dream involving ‘The Auld Triangle’ - never finished the song really, just started singing it like this. Now it goes faster and Martha’s regal violin is missing most of the time - but it’s still dear to me somehow.
‘St Mary’ from the ‘Cellar’ album available to download here.
Heard this yesterday and I remember when I recorded it that I was super happy with the room making such a clank and a clunk with the stomping.
Free to download: this as yet unreleased anywhere else song ‘Bad Things Happen’ from the 11 track ‘Simple Folk Recording’ album. Get it on my site here:

I wrote and recorded this after playing 2 weeks of shows in Holland where some bad things really did seem to happen. Heading back there in 2 weeks uh-oh.
‘Jesswood Recording’ now available in tasty uncompressed audio absolutely for free over at Bandcamp here.
I did this last February and it’s still one of my favourite things - was easy enough to sit at home in Ireland for an afternoon and play some songs. Go and get it and share with anyone you like, please do.
‘I Know What I Make Isn’t Fine’ from the ‘Winter’ album posted here for the hell of it. I still have this album on very limited hand stamped cds with unique covers and lyrics that I will post to you if you want a copy (link here or here). Also, Bandcamp (link here) has digitial copies of this and 10 other albums of mine that will never run out. Ever.
In two weeks I have a lots of shows coming up in Germany, Holland, Switzerland and then Poland a little later. Looks like I’ll be playing for 5 weeks with a few days off in the middle to clean my clothes. After this trip I’m not sure exactly where to live but will probably be looking for somewhere here in Berlin - so if you can help with a room from April onwards please get in touch with me. I need all the help I can get in these matters. Thanks.
‘I Do Wrong (Winter version)’ from the new recording available this week on limited cd here and unlimited download here.
To download this song click here. I had a bit of fun with this one somehow.
Thanks to all of you who have bought a copy of this little record - I’m under the weather but will send them out tomorrow.
‘You Are Better Than This’ from the new album ‘Winter’ I made two weeks ago. To download this song for free click here.
‘Winter’ is on sale today - you can buy it at my website here, or for download here. Recorded on Christmas Day, alone in snowy Berlin - something to make of this. I hope you enjoy it - please say if you do.
‘I Know What I Make Isn’t Fine’ from the forthcoming album ‘Winter’. Download this at Bandcamp if you wish right here.
More to come.
‘Joe And Robert And Me And Mike’
11/12/10 Intersoup, Berlin
I’ve been sick as a parrot the last few days, so have been catching up on recordings made with Johny the last week or so. Here’s a new song I hadn’t ever played before - finding out how it goes in front of a small crowd at Intersoup in Berlin last Saturday.

Also, here’s something I recorded at Nadja’s place in Hamburg last week. I really hate these Youtube boys with guitars in front of their laptops but the sun was out and was a day off so we made a few of these things. Oh well:

Hehehe, well Nadja (from Binoculers) and I recorded an interview and a couple of songs together in Luzern last week for Radio 3FACH. This song is called ‘The Shot’ and I wrote and recorded it about 4 years ago for ‘The Weeping Well’. For some reason I’m playing it more these days - here’s another version with Nadja.

Usually when I post mp3’s on here they’re part of a growing compilation thing - lots of odd tracks that don’t fit with other pieces too well for me. If you’d like to grab the rest you can get them for free on my website here or it may be easier to visit the Last.fm page for the album here:

More soon,
Stephen
‘The Shot’ recorded live at my friend Kori’s house last Friday night in Luzern, Switzerland. I had a day off so Kori cooked a load of delicious food and invited some friends round for a living room concert. Was lovely fun of course - but I still finished with this bleak thing. Ace sound effects though.

More bits and pieces from the recent tour coming up - please let me know if you like this stuff.

‘The Royal Canal’ with Martha Rose on the violin from Brighton earlier this month. We’ve done this a few times together - I always try to take it slow but every time get all carried away and race through the thing - there it is. The complete show is available to download for free at my website now here:
http://www.woodlandrecordings.com/thegreatpark201010.html
Grab it, share it - you know how these things work.

The Woodland Recordings tape of the concert in Brighton last week is now available to download for free on my website here:

(I had some trouble uploading this and used Rapidshare to host it in the end. I know this isn’t ideal so if anyone wants to host it someplace else feel free to do so and let me know where.)
Many thanks to Scott at Shhh! Promotions for organising what looks likely to be my only show in England this year. I have vowed never to try to book shows in the UK again - but if anyone wants to do it for me I’d be happy to come back…
Thanks also to Jon, Annie, Ridder, Amy and Vicky for accommodating the wife and I during the week. You’ll find pictures by Jon in the .zip file of this recording and a bunch of others at Flickr here. The one on the cover is by Stefanie, thank you too.
I think it was a nice show and the recording turned out pretty good. If I get the ok from the lovely Fiona Sally Miller and Woodpecker Wooliams I may upload their sets too - in any case please share this free recording with as many people as you think will like it. I’ve lots more on this page:
http://www.woodlandrecordings.com/thegreatparkmusic.html
Anyway, I hope you enjoy these things - please let me know if you do.
Be well,
Stephen

Random audio post of ‘The Burning Of Two’ from my second release on Woodland Recordings ‘The Weeping Well’. Seems ages ago - but only 3 years back. Long enough.
This was written about a horrible situation but Laurence and I had the most fun recording it. It’s kind of daft to me now, but of all the early things I love this the most I think.
